YOUNGSTOWN, OH – The Youngstown Phantoms have acquired defenseman Matej Teply from the Sioux City Musketeers in exchange for Kyle O'Leary and a 2026 Phase II fourth-round draft pick.

Teply, a 6-foot-1, 185-pound Stamford, Connecticut, native, adds size, experience and defensive depth to the Phantoms' blue line. In 27 games for the Musketeers this season, he has recorded two goals and 12 points. The University of Vermont commit brings valuable junior experience and strong skating instincts as he transitions into the Youngstown lineup.

"We're excited to welcome Matej to Youngstown," said Phantoms co-general manager Jason Deskins. "He's a reliable left-shot defenseman with good mobility and compete. We believe his game will complement our defensive group as we push through the second half of the season."

O'Leary, a 2006-born forward, departs the Phantoms organization following his selection in the 2024 Phase II Draft. The Phantoms thank Kyle for his professionalism and contributions and wish him continued success with the Sioux City Musketeers.

Teply is expected to report to the Phantoms immediately as Youngstown opens its post-Christmas schedule with a four-game road trip to Chicago and Madison before returning home to face the Des Moines Buccaneers on Jan. 9-10.

Season and single-game tickets are available by calling the Phantoms box office at 330-747-PUCK (7825).
