YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO – The Youngstown Phantoms have announced the signing of right-wing Lukas Zajic to a Phase II tender agreement.
Zajic, from Plainfield, Ill., spent the past two seasons with USA Hockey's National Team Development Program. He scored 35 goals and 26 assists in 111 career games with the NTDP.
A University of Wisconsin commit, Zajic previously played youth hockey for Chicago Mission and Shattuck-St. Mary's. His offensive skill set is expected to bolster the Phantoms' scoring prowess for the 2026–27 season.
"We are excited to bring Lukas to Youngstown, as he is a highly skilled winger who we expect to have a profound impact on our ability to score goals and win hockey games this upcoming season," Phantoms co-general manager Jason Deskins said. "Zajic has gifted hands and will be one of the most dangerous offensive players in the league."
Zajic is the second tender of the 2026 offseason, joining forward Austin Hall of Honeybaked, who signed a Phase I tender with Youngstown last week. By signing Zajic, the Phantoms surrender their first-round pick in Phase II of the USHL Draft, set to begin Tuesday, May 5, at noon.
The Phantoms are scheduled to return to Youngstown at the end of August for training camp ahead of the 2026–27 season. The team opens its campaign in mid-September at the USHL Fall Classic at the Blackhawks' new practice facility in downtown Chicago.
Season and single-game tickets are available by calling the Phantoms box office at 330-747-PUCK (7825).
